Holly Hobby and the simplier times
Mood:  lyrical
Now Playing: Rain Drops are falling on my head...
Topic: The simple times

It's Holly Hobby time,
with sunshine and laughter,
and sprinklers and ice cream there after,
in old fashioned rhyme!
Make it a Holly Hobby Day!

A simple quote I wrote on facebook the other day and someone wrote you know your old when your bedroom was Holly Hobby theme and you had her lunchbox...and I got to thinking does that make me old too, that I was in the Holly Hobby era...I remember those good old days when kids still had the simplier times...playing in the sprinklers on a hot summer's day, waiting for that ice cream truck to jingle a tune down the street so you could go running to mom or dad for money to get some..When kids still swung from tire swings and played hide and go seek...sadly enough they don't seem to do that so much today! Too busy going to the mall with their friends buying what they consider rad or cool clothes and eating at the food court...When I was growing up I would go to the mall with my parents in tow (sometimes friends were allowed to come along) and we would maybe get a drink at the Orange Julius stand in the mall...(mmm strawberry was a great flavor). But we would always do things as a family...

I even had a Holly Hobby metal toy and my sister had Robby..Not sure where they are today! They just don't have the toys or quality today they had back then..I was surprised to find some months back, a mini electronic Simon game..(you know the game where you had to match the color patterns) I loved that game..Well I bought that right away for my son..Nice to see some things are still around..Like the board game Monopoly, even though today you can get all kinds of extra monopoly games..like building a city etc...I guess that is the new democratic way! Now if only I could find a Speak and Spell..We moved a lot when I was a kid and most of my things are no more..Like the stuff beanbag sheep I had Bobo or my big giant turtle..and my camel called Humps (you remember that movie?) or my favorite terrier dog named Socko (I did a play for our third grade classroom with him Raggedy Ann and Andy) who had a sock in his mouth...

Any way, have a wonderful Holly Hobby day and may you never lose those simple moments...even in a modern world...
